Yesterday Mom got a letter:
Hi Bonnie-
I hope everything is going well. I know you’re super busy but I’d like you to ask Honeycutt to start blogging again. He always makes me chuckle and occasionally (the bear and hay scattering episodes) laugh out loud.
Thanks,
-Andrew
Oh Andrew, it is true that Mom has done a rotten job sharing the computer lately. She’s been spending a lot of time trying to help get new homes for the SAFE horses so that they can help more pointy horses become as round as the horses they are taking care of right now. When she read me your letter, I made a sad face, and asked her if she could please share the computer today so I can tell everyone some good news.
My friends and I decided to have a contest, do you know that thing? Contest is where everyone is judged and the best one is the winner. My friends and I had a contest to know who has THE BEST BLAZE.
THIRD PLACE went to Jay. In the Before times, Jay had a very respectable blaze which was shaped like a big star with a tail. But now Jay’s blaze is Different…the older he gets, the more messy his blaze becomes! This is a very strange thing because Jay is a black-brown horse who is not supposed to get Different as he gets older, but as you can see from his blaze, he is turning into a White horse. So Jay loses blaze points for having a very messy blaze. He wins THIRD PLACE but in the case of this contest, third place is the same as LAST PLACE. Sorry, Jay.
Also Jay has hays in his hair. This shows a blatant disrespect for Contest.
SECOND PLACE went to Chance. Chance has a very nice blaze that is very big and white, but his blaze is also somewhat crooked, so he loses blaze points for not being straight down the middle. His blaze is good at the top, but then it looks like whoever was painting it heard a scary noise and looked up suddenly, making the blaze go off to the side. Chance is handsome to look at, but sometimes that blaze makes you want to tilt your head to the side to make it look straight. Still, a very good effort, and nice enough to win SECOND PLACE.
FIRST PLACE is the blaze that is mine. My blaze is very bold and clean, and it earns many extra blaze points by being the same shape as a Seahorse head. Apart from the pleasing asymmetry of the Seahorse head, my blaze is perfectly balanced. My blaze looks like it was painted by an artist who did not get distracted and had a very clear plan in mind for what a beautiful blaze should look like. I am very proud to be the winner of the FIRST PLACE blaze. I do not think that me being the judge of the Best Blaze Contest had anything to do with my victory.
Do you have a question for Honeycutt? Please email him at honeycutt@safehorses.org and if you are very lucky, his mom will let him use the computer to answer your question!
