Incentive

Another pretty day means that me and Jay are hanging out together in the sunshine. The Big Baby was still eating breakfast when Mom put on her boots and came to turn us out, so he’s stuck in his own area right now. Mom opens the gates between our paddocks and our pastures so that we have many places to play, but she always shuts the stall doors because two horses are not allowed in one stall! That is the rule, but sometimes I forget because I am always looking for leftover hays. Jay and Chance never seem to finish their breakfasts, so I want to go in their stalls and help clean up. But sometimes they’re still in there, and that means two horses in a stall. The rule is one horse in a stall, so Mom has to shut the stall doors when we’re turned out to play or else we forget.

I have talked a lot about the games that we like to play and that is because every day has been pretty so playing games has been on my mind a lot. Soon I fear the rain will be back, and then there will be no playing, just a lot of standing and thinking. I plan to think about the SAFE horses a bit and maybe write a few new poems. On pretty days there is no time for poems.

But there is time to tell you something that is special. I wrote a Poem Book, do you know this book? My Poem Book is very rare because there are only 4 copies in the whole world! One belongs to my friend Holly and the other belongs to my friend Matt because I traded them for dollars at the SAFE auction. The other two copies are in my Mom’s little house. We’ve both been thinking about what to do with them, and Mom thinks it might be fun to use them as a thing called an Incentive for people to join the Honeycutt Nation Fund for Dollars. Incentive is a thing that makes you want to do something that you really want to do but have been putting off. So as Incentive, we are going to give a copy of my Poem Book to one of the new members of Honeycutt Nation. When we have 25 new friends, we will do a drawing, and the friend who is drawn gets the Poem Book! I will even sign the book with my nose which will be very special.
