When it is cold and wet like it is today, sometimes I get sad and wish it was summer again. But sometimes it makes me think about all the other horses in the world who don’t have it as good as I do. I have a new rainsheet to wear that fits me perfectly, and a little house to stand in while I eat my lovely, lovely hays. I have good friends to stand with, even if we have nothing to do because it’s raining and we don’t feel much like playing. I have a mom who comes out and feeds us this many times every day: 3. I am a very, very lucky horse. Best of all, I am very round. I am not one bit pointy. I can’t talk and that is okay, but if I could talk, I would yell this so loud that everyone would hear me: HORSES ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE POINTY!!!!! It hurts my heart to know that there are many, many Pointy Horses out there and that there is not enough I can do to help them.
“Oh Honeycutt!” Mom says to me. “You do as much to help Pointy Horses as any horse could do!” But that is not enough to make me feel happy on a day in which I feel so sad. But maybe it makes me have an Idea, do you know that thing? Idea is when your brain suddenly can see a way to help the problem that you are having. My Idea says that if I am a Round Horse who cares about Pointy Horses, maybe there are other Round Horses out there who would like to help me!!
So now I am talking to the Round Horses out there! Round Horses, are you shiny and round with lots of lovely hays to eat? Do you get tasty, tasty grain in your bowl every day? Do you have a nice little house to live in? Do you have a blanket to keep you warm and dry? Most of all, do you have someone who loves you? Pointy Horses don’t have those nice things, and worst of all, Pointy Horses don’t have someone who loves them. So talk to the person who loves you, and say, “Oh Person! Please give some of my dollars to SAFE!” I asked my mom last week and she gave SAFE this many dollars: 10. That is a lot of dollars for a horse, but I don’t need many dollars myself, and it felt really good to give them away.
Here is the link for the Round Horses to use to donate to help the Pointy Horses! We will contribute all of this money to SAFE’s Fall Into Winter Feed Drive to buy hays and tasty grain and horse treats. If any of the Round Horses want to send me a letter at honeycutt@safehorses.org and tell me about their gift, I will put it right here on my website so everyone can see how nice you are. There is also a place on the donation form where your person can write your name in so that I know that the donation is from you, Round Horse.
